ITB Friction Syndrome (Runners Knee)

ITB irritation often begins with a feeling of tightness along the outer thigh or a sharp pull when running, climbing stairs or walking downhill. It usually appears near the end of a longer session when the hips start to fatigue. In your appointment, we observe how your legs track during simple movements, assess hip control and check tension along the lateral thigh. This helps us pinpoint whether the issue is coming from tissue tightness, muscle weakness or a combination of both. Our ITB treatment focuses on:

  • Releasing tension along the outer thigh and surrounding structures
  • Rebuilding hip stability with targeted activation work
  • Reviewing gait or training habits that may be increasing the strain
  • Progressing exercises gradually so the tissue adapts without flaring

ITB issues settle most reliably with consistent, well-paced care. We shape your program around what your body can manage, adjust load carefully and help you return to activity with less irritation and steadier control.
